How to Fade Your Beard (In 60 Seconds) Tools Needed: - Soft Brush - Comb - Fine Hair Trimmer - Clipper set + guards (specialty guards like a 1/2 guard or 1 1/2 may be needed depending on your beard length) - Straight razor + replacement blades - 360 mirror Process/Tips: - Line up your neck line - Shape your beard (be sure not to take off too much - it’s better to take more off at the end then to take off too much at the beginning) - Fade (I prefer the look of a skin fade which is starting from the skin and working to the length of the beard) - When fading you are essentially working from a closed guard and slowly opening the clipper gate to an open guard. NOTE: You will create lines, but not to worry. Simply add the next clipper guard and close your gate. You’ll then attack the line you created and repeat the process by slowly opening the clipper gate. The hair eventually blends into the rest of the beard and all lines should be erased. - When taking volume off of your beard, always aim down (or with the grain of the hair) otherwise you risk taking off wayyyy more than you intended and having to shave it all off. I have done this so many times haha - Straight razor line ups can be tough. It’s something I still am practicing, but I think every guy should have a straight razor in his grooming arsenal. Depending on how course your hair is, you may have to change the blade after every use. - When shaving with a straight razor be sure to hold the blade at 30-40 degree angle (very close to the skin) and be sure to pull your skin back. Remember LIGHT PRESSURE. Let the blade do the work. I have messed up my beard so many times, but practice makes perfect. Be kind to yourself when learning something new and just remember everyone goes through the sucky learning curve when embracing a new process.
